TMU is the university at Yonge and Dundas, which is a fine address for a student and a terrible one for a taxi rank. The campus is about 28 kilometres from Pearson and 30 to 45 minutes by car, down the 427 to the Gardiner and up Jarvis or York. The point of booking ahead is the last block: a driver who already knows which residence door to stop at, in a part of downtown where stopping anywhere else is not really possible.
The campus sits in the downtown zone of the official GTAA tariff, so the fare above is the flat number for the campus address, HST included, the same in both directions. It is paid to the driver at the residence door by card or cash in the car. A parent booking from abroad pays nothing in advance and is never asked for a card on file.
The trip carries visiting faculty to Kerr Hall, families to convocation at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, and travellers to the hotels along Dundas and Yonge on the same tracked pickup as the students. - The apartments and student buildings along Jarvis, Church and Dundas East are the same zone as the campus; enter the exact address and the driver has the door.
- Yonge-Dundas closures for events and the Gardiner's closures change the route, never the fare. That is the driver's problem to solve.

What if the flight is late or immigration takes an hour?

The driver stops at the residence door, which is on Mutual, Jarvis or Church rather than on Yonge itself. Name the building in the booking notes and the car goes there directly; nobody is dropped on the corner with the bags.
Which vehicle for a move-in?
The SUV: six passengers, five checked bags, and room for two large cases and a carry-on each. The sedan carries three passengers and three bags and suits a visit, convocation or a lighter trip home.
How long is the drive?
