Pearson to Ontario Tech, flat

The flat GTAA-tariff fare for 2000 Simcoe St N, Oshawa, ON L1G 0C5, HST included, the same in both directions. Oshawa is priced by neighbourhood zone, so a residence a few streets away can sit in a different zone; enter the exact address and your fare shows before you confirm. 70 km · about 45 to 75 minutes. Ontario Tech and Durham College share the north Oshawa campus on Simcoe Street North, about 70 kilometres east of Pearson and, thanks to the 407's eastern extension, one of the cleaner campus drives in the region: the 407 comes off at Simcoe Street three kilometres north of the campus, which skips the whole of the 401 through Scarborough and Pickering. Off-peak on the 401 it is about 45 minutes; the 407 route is the one your driver reaches for when the 401 is not moving.

Oshawa is priced by zone on the official GTAA tariff, and the campus sits in a zone above the city's cheapest, so the fare above is the number for the campus address rather than a citywide floor that would be lower on paper and wrong at the door. It includes HST, it is the same in both directions, and it is paid to the driver at the end by card or cash in the car. A parent booking from abroad pays nothing in advance.

The two institutions share residences, the Campus Ice Centre and the arrivals rush in September and January, so one page covers both. The downtown Oshawa campus on Bond and Simcoe Streets is a different zone; enter its address and its fare shows. Book the SUV for move-in weekend: it takes six passengers and five bags, where the sedan's three bags are enough for a reading-week visit.

Your first landing at Pearson, in order

1. Your flight is tracked automatically from the moment you book, so a late departure or a slow taxi to the gate moves your driver's timing without a call from anyone.
2. Included waiting starts from wheels-down: 60 minutes on international arrivals, 30 on domestic. That is enough for immigration, a study permit interview, and baggage for almost everyone.
3. When you reach arrivals with your bags, look at your phone. Your chauffeur has texted the exact spot they are standing, curbside at your terminal, with the car's licence plate.
4. Walk out, find the plate, and the driver loads everything. Nothing to sign and nothing to pay yet.
5. At the campus door you pay the driver, by card or cash in the car, exactly the flat fare you saw when the trip was booked. HST is already in it.

Where the car goes on campus

• The on-campus residences are Simcoe Village and South Village, shared by Ontario Tech and Durham College; name the building in the booking notes and the driver goes to its entrance off Simcoe Street rather than the main campus doors.
• The 407 exit at Simcoe Street is three kilometres north of the campus, so when the driver takes the toll route the last stretch is a straight run south. The 407 toll is the only possible extra on the fare and the driver uses that route only when it saves real time.
• The downtown campus buildings around Bond Street and Simcoe Street South, and the Regent Theatre, are a separate zone; the booking page shows that fare as soon as the address is entered.
• Student housing in Windfields, along Simcoe Street North and around Conlin Road is close to the campus; a few streets can move an address into a neighbouring zone, so enter the exact address rather than the campus name.
• Off-peak the drive is about 45 minutes on the 401; a weekday afternoon through Scarborough can run toward 75 unless the driver goes up to the 407. For a departing flight we set the pickup from live traffic.
